State Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposits Research

This laboratory was constructed in 1991 and passed the national acceptance testing in October 1995. It is the earliest state key laboratory for mineral deposits research in China.

The lab features the basic theoretical study on metallogenesis, composition of Earth’s substances and their evolutions, and it has a series of major instruments and test platforms. It aims to establish and develop theories on diagenesis and metallogenesis, to reveal the composition of Earth’s substances, major geological events, and layer interaction and its relationship with metallogenesis, so that it can provide a  theoretical basis and technical support for solving the mineral resources and related environmental problems urgently needed for China’s economic construction and national strategic security, and cultivating high-level geological specialists for research, technology and higher education of related disciplines.

Key Laboratory of Surficial Geochemistry, Ministry of Education

The establishment of this laboratory was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2011. In 2014, it passed the acceptance testing of the ministry and was officially opened to the public.

The lab focuses on two disciplines of “geochemistry” and “hydrology and water resources,” and it is known for its research methods of surficial geochemistry. It aims at the major national needs and the scientific frontiers of  global environmental changes, and conducts research on the basic theories, methodologies and applied foundations of the process and mechanism of “surficial Earth.” The lab has four research areas: (1) continental chemical weathering and environmental evolution; (2) water-rock interaction and pollution prevention and control; (3) biogeochemical cycle of elements; (4) surficial geochemical dynamics.
